Remix-A-Lot

Dj Twitch Remix

I’m usually not a big fan of house music, but my bwoy Dj Twitch recently sent me a couple of his house remixes and I can’t lie – I’m feelin them!

Check them out below and let me know what you think.

New Music from Three 6 Mafia – Oomp Camp Style

Dj Montay & Three 6 Mafia

I wanted to share this joint with everybody.

Oomp Camp‘s DJ Montay just produced a wild joint for Three 6 Mafia called “I’d Rather” featuring DJ Unk. I’m definitely feelin this track – and enjoying their blog too.

Also, big shout out to my homie DJ Hotsauce from Oomp Camp/Southern Style DJs who just celebrated his birthday on the same day as me – February 9th! You and DJ Jelly definitely got my vote for the Justos playboy!

Kanye Killed It At The Grammys

Kanye West 2008 Grammy Performance

Kanye West might not have had one of The Beatles present him an award last night at the Grammys, but his performance was definitely the top point of the night.

Kanye brought out who we’re supposed to assume was Daft Punk (apparently one of them was actually Just Blaze) during his performance of “Stronger” and then ended it with a great performance of “Hey Mama”. Due to personal circumstances, the second song really stood out to me.

On a side note, I know I shouldn’t be hatin on a Canadian trying to do their thing, but Feist‘s performance nearly put me to sleep. I’m not saying anything about the song itself – I’m just saying, her performance couldn’t have been any duller than it was. Just doesn’t seem like a “Grammy performance” type of song.

EDIT: They removed the broadcast video from YouTube so click here for another video of the performance from Kanye’s site.

Finer Things with DJ Felli Fel

Dj Felli Fel

DJ Felli Fel did it again. This is a new joint with Kanye, Fabolous, JD & Ne-Yo.

I’m definitely looking forward to Felli Fel’s album, which is dropping later this year on So So Def.

Jay Z On The Big Idea

Anybody who knows me knows that I don’t watch much tv really; just a few shows and then just some re-runs of a few classic sitcoms to give me background noise while I work. One of my favourite shows out there though is The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch on CNBC. If you don’t know who Donny Deutsch is – get familiar.

Donny occasionally invites music moguls on the show (Clive Davis, Jermaine Dupri, Diddy, etc) to discuss their rise in business, their current and upcoming ventures and etc. He recently had Hov on the show and since I’ve got this blog up now, I thought I’d share this clip with you.

Check it out.

New Cassie Joint

Next Selection‘s Cassie is back with a new song from the Step Up 2 Soundtrack, called Is It You? I know the track isn’t new new, but I’ve been hearing this track non-stop on radio and never knew who sang it until now. I think the Pop/Hot AC vibe suits her well.

Second Post

I just read my first post and realized I probably should’ve given a brief introduction on myself.

I’m really not in the mood to write some long-winded bio so I’m gonna break it down in short sentences; an idea I stole from some random website I saw a while ago and liked. It’s faster for me to write, and it’s not as boring for you to read.

Here goes:

I work in the music business.

Yes, it’s full-time and not an after-“regular job” hobby.

Depending on the situation, when people ask what I do, I won’t mention music, entertainment or anything interesting about my life – I’ll just say “marketing”.

This way I’m not always harassed for free CDs and concert tickets, being asked what famous people I’ve met, and being hounded to sign everybody’s best friend’s group.

The truth is that I wear many hats and do multiple jobs, but saying “marketing” is a good blanket statement that people tend to accept and understand.

I don’t rap.

I don’t sing.

I don’t make beats.

I’ve tried all three.

I suck at all three.

I work a lot.

I like working.

It makes me happy.

I’m nocturnal.

I’m most alert when I know the world is asleep.

I usually get to bed around 4 or 5am.

It’s 7am as I write this.

I didn’t get to sleep this time.

I don’t sleep much.

I’m not a morning person.

I never mastered the art of eating breakfast.

I should try to make breakfast a routine.

I’m listening to Bilal right now.

I can be serious and I can be goofy.

I can be busy and I can be idle.

I can be intelligent and I can be ignorant.

I can be focused and I can be restless.

I can be confident and I can be humble.

I can be energetic and I can be lazy.

I can be a gentleman and I can be an ass.

I can be simple and I can be complex.

I can be right and I can be wrong.

I can see my alarm is going off and I can stop writing this now.

Last Blogger On The Net

Okay, so it’s 2008 and I’m starting a blog now. I really am the last blogger on the net.

This is actually my third attempt at one. I started one almost 2 years ago, but didn’t really know what I was doing or how to go about it. Then, I tried again last year, but I was being picky and didn’t know what to write about. I thought I’d have to write a new article every single day about some in-depth topic like those pro-bloggers out there, but that’s a far stretch with my schedule, so I scrapped the idea.

This time, I decided to sit down and just study a couple of blogs I like and consider the time and involvement I need to dedicate to it. I like the idea of it – I just don’t know much about the world of blogging.

Well, kind of. I started my first website in ’96 and have been writing online ever since, but that’s before the word “blogging” was coined and now it seems to be an entire beast of its own.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to post every single day, but I will do my best to update as often as possible. And not all my posts will be full text; sometimes I’m just going to post songs, videos or whatever I feel like sharing.

I’ll write however it comes to me. Sometimes it’s gonna be more casual and my posts will be rushed and filled with errors and slang. Othertimes, it’s gonna be more nerdy and my posts will be all proper with perfect grammar, punctuation and structure.

Like I said, I’ll just write however it comes to me.

Hopefully, third time’s a charm.
