I first met Bu Thiam a few months back in Atlanta. After speaking to him for a bit and seeing the types of moves he was making, I immediately thought of featuring him when I first lauched the site.
As co-CEO of Konvict Muzik, Bu is definitely a mogul in the making.
During my discussion with Bu, we spoke about his entry into the game, career aspirations and the rumours of Akon’s country album.
Oh yeah, if you’re thinking he looks familiar, that’s because he’s also Akon’s brother. But don’t think he got his position just because of that. Bu makes his own moves and is steadily rising as one of the music game’s biggest executives.
On that note, you can add me on different social networks through the links on the right sidebar. Much like the video, MySpace is probably the one I check the least, but feel free to holler at me on Facebook, or LinkedIn and add me on Twitter.
As you’ve noticed, I’ve made a few changes to my blog. The site has been growing incredibly (very unexpected) and as I get more into it, I’ve decided to bump it up on my list of priorities.
A few new widgets in the sidebar to easily browse topics of interest
And last but not least.. a mobile version of the site!
Now, you can view a WAP or HTML version of MakingTheMogul.com (depending on your mobile browser) wherever you are - just direct your mobile browser to mobile.makingthemogul.com.
Let me know what you think of the changes and if you have any other suggestions you would like to see implemented into the site.
Also, I’m still trying to find time to randomly browse the net and discover new blogs, so if you have or know of any other blogs that would make sense for me to connect with, please let me know. Keep in mind, this is a music business blog; so rather than sites that are based on gossip or news, or even artist blogs; I’m looking for blogs that are more geared towards the business of music and entertainment. Maybe the personal blog of someone else who works in the business or one that features news involving the industry.
From the list of sites I’m currently linked to; the ones that are most relevant to MakingTheMogul.com are Miss Theda, Thank God I’m Famous, The Blast and The Corporate Takeover. These are all great sites and if you enjoy my site, I highly recommend that you check them out as well.
Don’t get it twisted though, I like all the sites I’m linked to - that’s why I linked them. I’m just looking for more blogs in the same vein as mine. So, if you have one or know of some, please leave a comment below and let me know.
The other day, I posted about a recent situation I had with someone who tried to steal my clients and ended up killing her reputation. I got a lot of emails from people telling me about their personal experiences with backstabbers and unprofessional associates. (Thank you for all your emails and messages, but please remember to also leave your comments on the blog. We gotta get this site up there!)One reader sent me the following video clip by entertainment lawyer, John Kellogg, which I thought I’d post up for everybody.
Looks like ATL producer Polow Da Don, just pulled an early Swiss Beatz move. Apparently, Polow used a few of the premade music loops that come packaged with Garageband to make Usher’s new song, “Love In This Club”.
Before anybody gets it twisted, I’m not putting anybody on blast. I’m a fan of Polow’s work and as companies and agencies become more creative with their marketing efforts, don’t be surprised if this was done intentionally and meant to leak out. I’m not saying it is, but you never really know.
Anyways, check out the… ummm…. the ummmmm…. the video:
