The Blog About Moe Arora And His Journey In The Music Business

I was so caught up with work recently, I completely overlooked a small, but meaningful milestone:
As I was doing my blog rounds today, I came across a post on DJ Lissa Monét’s blog, talking about a recent situation involving popular music blog, Palms Out Sounds.
As it turns out, Google’s blog service, Blogger.com, has recently begun a campaign against all music blogs hosted on their servers posting new music.
Even if you’re not hosting the file yourself but just posting a link to a file hosted elsewhere, you can be effected:
Google, the IFPI & the RIAA have begun a campaign against all the music blogs hosted on blogger.com - especially high profile blogs, like Palms Out.
This first started a couple of months ago, but only hit Palms Out about a month ago.
Without warning, Google removed three old posts from the blog, and offered no explanation. They then followed by removing Remix Sunday 131, and 132- and offered a brief explanation. Keep in mind, there is no actual copyrighted content uploaded by Palms Out that is hosted on any of Google’s servers, only hyperlinks.
For more read the full post over at Palms Out Sounds.
While you’re at it, if you’re hungry for some new music, I suggest checking out The Difference mixtape by DJ Lissa Monét & The Legends League.

Today marks a truly unfortunate day, as Shakir Stewart has passed away.
Just earlier this year, Shakir was named Executive Vice President of Def Jam Recordings. Prior to his promotion, he served as Senior VP of A&R at Def Jam since September 2006 and as VP of A&R the two years prior.
Shakir passed away earlier today as the result of a suicide. More details are available at the moment, however given the unfortunate nature of this situation, I choose to leave it at that and simply extend my prayers to his family, friends, colleagues and all those who have had the privilege of being around him.
The music business lost a great man.
Rest In Peace.

One of my favourite sites online, Alltop.com, is known as a digital magazine rack for nearly any topic you can think of.
That’s the quickest way of explaining what it is, but for a more detailed explanation, read this post I wrote a while ago, or just watch this video:
Well, no. Not really.
If you recall, a few months ago I posted about 50 Cent’s upcoming TV show, “Mogul In The Making”. Seeing that my blog is called Making The Mogul, it kinda… caught me off guard (read: got me vexed).
I later posted about my intentions behind launching this blog and naming it Making The Mogul, and figured I’ll just see how it goes and if the similarity in names actually helps my site traffic.
It did for a while, especially during the casting calls, and my blog stayed at the top of any Google searches for “mogul in the making” and other varieties searching for the show. That was a welcome side-effect, but it got extremely annoying when my inbox would be continuously FLOODED with requests to be on the show (which confused the hell outta me before I even knew about the show).
Well, I just peeped the new trailer for 50’s show on Miss Info’s blog, and it seems like they changed the name from Mogul In The Making to The Money & The Power.
Looks like SOMEONE thought twice after peeping this site right here lol.
Unlike previously rumored, the grand prize is not a scholarship, but rather a $100,000 investment towards the business idea of the winner. Makes more sense.
Here’s the trailer for 50 Cent’s upcoming reality show with MTV, “The Money & The Power”.
I’m looking forward to the show.
