Akon, Steve Rifkind & Devyne Stephens Goofing Around

Welcome to MakingTheMogul.com. It looks like you're new here. Please make sure to subscribe to my RSS feed and join me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!

LOL! Wooooooooowww. I can’t stop laughing at this video.

Akon, Devyne Stephens, Steve Rifkind and others were goofing around and dancing to Akon’s “Right Now” in Steve Rifkind’s office at SRC Records. Devyne starts it all off with a goofy little dance, then some friends jump in and join in on the fun.

The best though, is when Akon’s bodyguard starts dancing at 2:45 into the clip. He gets into a funky groove and then busts into the funniest dance you’ve ever seen.

Quick heads up in case you’re watching this at work: you WILL fall to the floor laughing when the bodyguard catches his groove at 3 minutes in. Guaranteed!

50 Cent & MTV Are Scared Of Me

Well, no. Not really.

If you recall, a few months ago I posted about 50 Cent’s upcoming TV show, “Mogul In The Making”. Seeing that my blog is called Making The Mogul, it kinda… caught me off guard (read: got me vexed).

I later posted about my intentions behind launching this blog and naming it Making The Mogul, and figured I’ll just see how it goes and if the similarity in names actually helps my site traffic.

It did for a while, especially during the casting calls, and my blog stayed at the top of any Google searches for “mogul in the making” and other varieties searching for the show. That was a welcome side-effect, but it got extremely annoying when my inbox would be continuously FLOODED with requests to be on the show (which confused the hell outta me before I even knew about the show).

Well, I just peeped the new trailer for 50’s show on Miss Info’s blog, and it seems like they changed the name from Mogul In The Making to The Money & The Power.

Looks like SOMEONE thought twice after peeping this site right here lol.

Unlike previously rumored, the grand prize is not a scholarship, but rather a $100,000 investment towards the business idea of the winner. Makes more sense.

Here’s the trailer for 50 Cent’s upcoming reality show with MTV, “The Money & The Power”.

I’m looking forward to the show.

I Stay Buying CDs

Don’t get me wrong, I support and purchase digital downloads from iTunes, etc, but as a personal preference, I still buy CDs.

Even though I mostly listen to music on my computer, iPod and Blackberry, I still prefer having a physical disc to sync the music from and to keep on my shelves. Maybe I’m a collector, maybe I’m nostalgic, but it’s what I prefer.

I purchase music all the time, but today 2 albums dropped that I’ve actually been looking forward to for a while:

T.I - “Paper Trail”
Dru - “The One”

New Music CDs: T.I - Paper Trail, Dru - The One

By the way, if you’re an R&B cat like me and you’re not familiar with Dru, you need to be. He was formerly with the group, In Essence, which broke into the scene with their song, “You Will Never Find Another” back in 1998 with Funkmaster Flex.

Check out some of his videos below and make sure to go cop his new record.

I SEE YOU DRU!

So now, let me ask you guys; what’s the last music (single or album/digital or physical) that you purchased?

Jimmy Iovine Discusses The Future Of The Music Business

Here’s an interesting video I found of Jimmy Iovine discussing his views on today’s music industry and his vision on the direction it’s taking. (Note: The video is about a year old)

He offers advice for new artists as well as talking about possible distribution models, what makes a great producer and the future of Interscope and the traditional record label.

Dancing All Over The World

I just saw this video and had to share it with you guys.

I’m surprised I’ve never seen in it before though, since it’s apparently a very popular viral video.

No matter what kind of mood you’re in; you will definitely laugh and smile watching it.

This video took Matt Harding to 42 countries in 14 months and the best part about it all - it was all paid for by Stride Gum. How awesome is that?

[EDIT: You have to wait until about 1 minute into the video to understand why this is such a great and hilarious video.]

Make A Beat Online, Win $30,000

I came across this website a few weeks ago and wanted to share this with the producers and beatmakers out there.

This website, Hobnox.com is offering $30,000 to contestants who submit their music productions into their Evolution 2 contest. They have 3 different categories for their contest; Music, Film & Culture - each with its own $30,00 prize.

Usually, I wouldn’t post something like this, but like I mentioned yesterday; conferences, showcases and contests can be incredibly helpful to your success, so I wanted to share this with you guys to give the producers and beatmakers a chance to take advantage of one of these opportunities, regardless of what city you’re in.

Check out the video below to take a quick tour and then click here to find out more information about the Evolution 2 contest.
