I’d like to announce that next week will be Producers Week, right here, on makingthemogul.com.
Producers Week will feature interviews and features with some high-profile producers and producer managers, as well as a report on this Saturday’s “So You Want To Be A Producer” webinar, presented by In The Know Seminars. (If you haven’t already registered for In The Know’s webinar, please do so by clicking here.)
As part of Producer’s Week, I would like to invite all upcoming music producers to post your questions for hit producers, Midi Mafia.
Whether you want to ask about getting into the game, selling beats, or plug-in selections, this is your opportunity to get insight and advice from Billboard charting producers.
Music production can be incredibly challenging to get into; especially when technology has made it possible for nearly anybody to have a fair shot at it. But whether you’re learning to produce in a music school or learning on your own, nothing can replace real, live examples of music you listen to every single day.
Earlier last week, I met with producers Dow Jones & Henny of Tha Bizness. During our conversation, we began discussing blogging, social media and different ways of using them effectively to not only connect with an audience, but also to educate others making their way up.
Seeing that Tha Bizness have their own blog, I suggested making a video walkthrough of some of the hits they’ve been creating.
Being the forward thinking guys they are, they were open to the idea.
I came across this website a few weeks ago and wanted to share this with the producers and beatmakers out there.
This website, Hobnox.com is offering $30,000 to contestants who submit their music productions into their Evolution 2 contest. They have 3 different categories for their contest; Music, Film & Culture – each with its own $30,00 prize.
Usually, I wouldn’t post something like this, but like I mentioned yesterday; conferences, showcases and contests can be incredibly helpful to your success, so I wanted to share this with you guys to give the producers and beatmakers a chance to take advantage of one of these opportunities, regardless of what city you’re in.
If you’re an aspiring artist, producer, DJ or professional, you should already know how important conferences, showcases and contests can be. If you don’t already know; then I’m telling you now; they’re important.
I make it a point to attend several of these events, even if it doesn’t necessarily pertain to my profession, mainly because of the networking opportunities they present. If you know how to carry yourself and you have the necessary self-promo tools (business cards, CD, DVD, etc), events like these should not be missed.
If you’re in Atlanta, or will be on September 11, 2008, make sure you attend The Demo Clinic being held at Django.
Looks like ATL producer Polow Da Don, just pulled an early Swiss Beatz move. Apparently, Polow used a few of the premade music loops that come packaged with Garageband to make Usher‘s new song, “Love In This Club”.
Before anybody gets it twisted, I’m not putting anybody on blast. I’m a fan of Polow’s work and as companies and agencies become more creative with their marketing efforts, don’t be surprised if this was done intentionally and meant to leak out. I’m not saying it is, but you never really know.
Anyways, check out the… ummm…. the ummmmm…. the video:
