New Music: Pitbull, Charles Hamilton, Famous

Here are a few videos of some tracks that are in rotation on my personal system that I figured I’d share with you guys.

Pitbull ft. Machel Montano & Lil Jon – The Anthem Remix

I’ve always been a fan of Pitbull. His flow is always on point, his swag is his own and he’s a very well-rounded artist.

This song is straight bananas. And the craziest thing about it… Machel Montano is on the track!

Upcoming DJs, pay attention: If you ever think you’re losing the crowd on the dancefloor, use the tool that every bonafide DJ has used several times to revive the party and bring it to a whole different level – Machel Montano.

Machel is like crack to a party. You can’t possibly put on a Machel chune and expect the place not to explode. I’ve been a fan of his since… damn… over 10 years now. He’s absolutely one of the most energetic and incredible artists and has been so for over a decade.

Man, I still can’t get over the fact that Machel is on the song.

Charles Hamilton, Kanye West & The Game – Freestyle Cypher

For about 2 months now, everytime I open up my web browser and go to any site, I always see the name Charles Hamilton.

I kept asking myself, “who the f*ck is Charles Hamilton?”

Now I know. Dude is a dope emcee and a freestyle beast! If you don’t know about him yet, you better get familiar before everybody else is in on the secret. Believe me.

Shoutout to Aura & Franz for putting me onto this cat.

Famous ft. Trinity Chris – Big Man Tings

Canada’s Kid Famous has been making a lot of noise this year and just dropped his first video alongside Trinity Chris.

Actually, I’m going to cheat and double up with a second video from Famous. (It’s my blog, I’m allowed to cheat).

Famous ft. Andreena Mill – Canadian Boy

This is a great remix of Estelle‘s “American Boy”. I don’t know what word to use to describe Andreena Mill, other than “crazy talented”. Okay, so that’s two words.

If you’re not familiar with her work, check her out at her myspace link posted below. Crazy.. just pure crazy.

I still remember when Famous used to jump into freestyle battles or do the Diddy dance during performances back when we were in college and I was managing my first group. Good to see he’s doing his thing and staying consistent.

Famous.. you know I couldn’t end this segment without saying – I BLOG NOW!

Monday Music – Screw Genres

Okay, so it’s Monday now, which means it’s the beginning of the week for most people. I work throughout the weekends however, so the only difference to me is that there will be a few more phone calls and emails today.

Anyways, I’m finishing up a project for a major client of mine, so I’m going to be pretty tied up with that today; but I didn’t want to leave you high and dry without a fresh post, so I decided I’d share some music with you.

I’m not sure if many of you know this, but when it comes to music – I listen to many different genres. The “urban” genres are definitely my core preference, but I still listen to anything that sounds good – regardless of what radio format the song is serviced to. But even when it comes to urban, most people assume I’m a strict rap/hip-hop head.

Truth be told, I grew up listening to R&B, Dancehall and Soca just as much as I did listening to Rap. Actually, I’m just as much, if not more, of an R&B cat than I am a hip-hop head. Whenever I find the state of music to be a little stale, I can always find an R&B song to keep my ears and mind satisfied.

By the way, I really don’t like using genres to classify music. I could care less about what radio format a song is serviced to or what clothing brands or lifestyle is associated to it. To me, good music is good music.

I mention genres mainly for the simplicity of living a sane life. I’m not going to be that guy who stops you 5 times during a sentence and asks you to clarify what you mean when you say certain words. I hate that guy. That guy doesn’t live life; he argues with it.

Anyways, I really don’t know where I’m going with this. The whole purpose of this post was just to share 2 songs with you that have been on repeat on my player for the past week…… fine – 3 weeks; but you see what I’m saying? (I know they’re not necessarily “new” new, but I guarantee they’re new to most of you)

The first one’s a little more mid-tempo, while the second one is a little slower; but they’re both real serious joints in my opinion. Check them out and let me know what you think.

EDIT: I switched the order of the songs since it’s easier to go from slow-tempo up, as opposed to the opposite. Thanks to Rachel for pointing it out.
